Choking

Choking

he tightens the rope he placed around her neck
Pushes her aside, makes her forget
Demolishes what's left of the heart that he broke...
Laughs to himself as he watches her choke

Her world comes crashing down
Crushing all her dreams
He simply lets her drown
Ignoring all her screams

The cruelest joke of all
One simple "I love you.",
Another tale told tall
And she didn't have a clue

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.

Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
