Mark Upon Her Soul

Mark Upon Her Soul

She stands, frozen in place
As her fate forcefully beckons
and as he ruins her for good
the vultures swoop upon the wreckings
his hands are rough and his soul is cold
but he tells her this is right
if this is normal, tell me why
she's plagued by your face at night
If this is normal, tell me why
you're forever in her dreams
she's so young, she can't understand
that sometimes games arent what they seem
You've left a mark upon her soul;
A stain she can't wipe off
you gave the cruelest gift of all;
something no one can ever top.

Poetry is either something that lives like fire inside you or else it is nothing, an empty formalized bore around which pedants can endlessly drone their notes and explanations.
