    • is happy for each day that I'm given a chance to live and love

    Don't promise me

Don't promise me tomorrow, just live life for today

And in my heart and memories, forever you will stay

Don't promise me the moon and stars for they fade with the morning sky

Just keep your dreams alive my friend, and it's there that you shall fly

Don't promise me forgiveness for mistakes that I have made

For they are all lifes lessons, and if I've learned, I've earned my grade

Don't promise me forever, for we have no control over our time

Just live today to it's fullest, for there is no reason or rhyme

Don't promise me lifes riches, for it's the simplest gifts you give

Like a smile, a hug, your friendship, that makes me want to live

Don't promise me the sunshine, on all my gloomy days

Just fill my deepest moments with a kind word and your praise

Don't promise me the rain will fall to cover up my tears

Just be there when I need an ear to chase away my fears

Don't promise me to fufill my dreams, for they are mine to achieve

For if I loose sight of my goals, then it is only I that shall grieve

Don't promise love you can not give, for it only breaks a heart

Just remember to always be my friend as you were right from the start

For PROMISES are just plain words, I'd rather see the truth in your eyes

For then there are no broken promises, this truth can't be disguised

The rhymes are excellent. I really love this poem it really makes me feel like im deep inside the poem. Thanks for sharing it!

In science one tries to tell people, in such a way as to be understood by everyone, something that no one ever knew before. But in poetry, it's the exact opposite.

    Franz Kafka (1883-1924) Czech writer.
