    Drifting Conscience

    My mind flows like the water
    in the ocean of the stars
    where Mercury and Pluto unite,
    claiming their spot by the Sun;
    Holding all humans captive,
    while the Earth rotates around....

    Meanwhile, the moon glimmers
    in the distant night
    that only comes once a day
    and is silent-
    among everything;
    shining, blistering bolts of light...

    And I, my mind
    think of yesterday
    and tommorrow
    how the same water flows through
    the ocean of the stars -
    and the planets -
    and the Sun.

    The true philosopher and the true poet are one, and a beauty, which is truth, and a truth, which is beauty, is the aim of both.

    Ralph Waldo Emerson, American Poet (1803-1882)
