Final Call

Final Call

I have accepted my destiny with faith and resolve,
and decided that life’s greatest mysteries aren’t mine to solve.
I know that when the last moments of breath arrive,
with my family my life’s un-written book will survive.
I just want for everyone to see with their heart,
the kind of man I tried to be before I depart.
And for them to feel the good spirits and love that I feel,
the generosity and good will I gave was all so real.
Fighting the disease that lies deep within my aching flesh,
will now go away when I lay down for my final rest.
I leave you with my fondest wishes and deep love,
when it comes your time, I will meet you in heaven above.

A well written piece...Thank you for sharing..A subject often written about yet seldom captured so well.

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
