    Forever Connected

    Something changed inside me,
The day that I first heard your heartbeat,
Outwardly showing no signs of pregnancy,
But, it was starting to feel so real,
    Inside, things were very different,
The day I felt your first kick,
    I couldn't explain how I felt,
    I cried,
That said it all for me,
    You're real,

    As time went by,
You became more and more special,
    With each movement,
With each strange and new feeling,
    A bond was forming,
    You're a part of me,
    It's not just your smile,
    Or your love of chicken,
    It's your heart,
    And mine,

    In those nine months,
    That we were intertwined,
    Something unexplainable happened,
    No matter the distance,
Or the amount of time apart,
There is something that will never go away,
The bond that formed between us,
    Though some have tried,
    There is no denying,
    That we are forever connected.

Poetry is not a turning loose of emotion, but an escape from emotion.
