    No More Chains

    Held down so tightly,
    I couldn't breathe,
    Screaming so loud,
And, yet no one could hear me,
I prayed for a way to break free,

Slowly, my confidence began to build,
    The hold was loosening,
And, finally people began to hear my voice,
    The chains started slipping off,
    The scars started to heal,

This life is what I make it,
I won't let anything hold me back anymore,
It's time for me to take control,
I'm gonna live life without being scared,
I can do whatever I set my mind to,

    No more chains,
Fear, bitterness, and hate no longer hold power over me,
Faith, love, and truth push me and my dreams forward,
    The future looks bright,
Because I finally believe it can be.

    Thank you. :)

Poetry is not the expression of personality but an escape from personality.
