    God's Crayons

    Today God used up
All the blue crayons in the box
Coloring the sky such a fantastic shade
That to see it in a painting
    Would be to disbelieve that
    Anything could be so blue

After seemingly endless weeks of rain
    And dreary grey skies
The colors seem more vibrant today
    Iwander down the road looking
Until my eyes ache with beauty

Here is a field of early beans
    Tawny brown and rust colored
    Rattling in the wind
And glowing as the sun hits them
    At just the perfect angle

The deep green and snow white
    Of cotton, tall and strong
    Boles ready to burst open
Spreads out for acres and acres
    On my neighbors land

The few corn fields cut before the rain
Now sport a carpet of bright green sentries
    Advantageous corn
New shoots from the spilled grain
    Already a foot high

I know bleak winter is coming
So I try to capture these God-drawings
    Hoping to take these gifts
    And hang them with magnets
On the refrigerator door of my soul

I love the childlike image of God in your poem and how you come back to that image in the end with the hanging of the drawings on the refrigerator. It really gives your poem nice closure and completeness. There are also just some gorgeous images here. You have connected with your surroundings and the love is so evident! I've felt the same way before-- almost drunk on a beautiful day. Thank you. I really enjoyed this. :)
