good-bye dad

Father Are You Really Gone
When i recieved that saddened call
So unexpected so undesired my heart shattered
my mind whent blank and i began to fall
as if my own life had expired
I wept with a heavy heart all alone i felt blanketed by the dark
my father has passed he is gone from the earth
the man that raised me from my unexpected birth
he taught me life right from wrong
he taught me the bad times would not last long
he placed in me the stregnth to overcome
his lessons helped me to be cumbersome
i continue each day as he would have me do
i pick up my head when i am feeling blue
i take all that he has shown
and i pass the lessons to my own
i teach them these lessons and watch them grow
i speak his words and with similar hands i show
i sit alone late at night for periods so long
and ask this question father are you really gone
even though your body is buried deep you words and love
reside in me and escape not when i weep.
thank you father for everything your son
