love born from a gaze

love born from a gaze

walking down a crowd congested street
he gazes amongst them all of a sudden their eyes meet
they have never met nor will they today
he drops his gaze and walks away

he walks in the quiet he is all alone
he doesnt smile or speak as he enters his home

no one is waiting to smile as he enters
no one to speak to while he eats his dinner

he showers alone and lays in the bed the same
his life so predictable almost tame

he drifts off into a dreamless sleep
its all to familiar no need to weep

months go but still to no avail
he moves through life like a single ship set to sail

a year has past he has all but forgotten
that day
he hears a dog bark and sees children at play
he continues his trac plotted and set
right past the place they almost met

there isnt many people on that street only one more
a beautifull woman gazing in the windows of the stores

he walks past and suddenly stops
a reflection of her eyes in the glass of the shop

he strikes a conversation about the sky being blue
a year down the road she says i do
he says in his vows i once let you slip away
but was blessed to find a year later that sunny day
i will never again drop my head to the ground
for with these words our love is eternaly bound

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.

Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
