    Guilt

    Guilt is more becoming
felt at present than at end.
To carry this for years or more
    should be considered sin.

It smothers every ounce of you,
a black blanket, thick and dense.
Rid this feeling, I caution -
    I’ve learned from experience.

The true philosopher and the true poet are one, and a beauty, which is truth, and a truth, which is beauty, is the aim of both.

Ralph Waldo Emerson, American Poet (1803-1882)
