    The Seine

    The Seine
    Sept 2004- Paris, France

The city carried a musty scent
    after the cool rain.
As if to hear a secret, the trees lean
    Toward the water.
Standing at the walls shawled in ivy,
You can see the lights from the Tower.
They are set off every hour,
    Upon nightfall.
An old man with grey hair and a brown cap
    sells his paintings.
    Riverboats pass.
