    I've Loved a Man

    I’ve never touched a rainbow
    Nor swam the Bering Sea.
But I’ve loved a man without compare
And that is good for me.

    I’ve never climbed a mountain
Nor held a butterfly in my hand.
But I’ve inscribed “I love you”
    In grains of silken sand.

If I should reach thy heaven
And lay a hand upon its gate,
I’ll call to mind I loved a man
    Before it was too late.

    Thank you suzy!

Poetry is not a turning loose of emotion, but an escape from emotion.

    T. S. Eliot (1888-1965) American-English poet and playwright.
