How Long Can You Tread Water...

When you get tired of swimming
I'll help you build a boat to take you safely
from battering waves of self-inflicted pennance
to my house upon the shore.

When you grow weary of crying
I'll help you knit a cloth woven of answers
from dreams you've long abandoned and thought broken
to dry tears forevermore.

And when you're weak from fighting
I'll help you see the war was long since over
and the demons you were wrestling were just spirits
of the world you knew before.

"Til then, I'll sit beside you
and hope this quest for misery and suffering
will soon have run it's course and self forgiveness
helps you to even out the score.

For I cannot dissuade you
and all my words and wisdom are but wasted
echoes bouncing off the walls of Hell created
to hold the things that you abhore.

So when you get tired of swimming
I'll jump into the waves and hold you tightly
and form a barrier reef of love to hold you to me
where you may rest and weep no more.

A very healing poem, It is an insight to the lengths you will go for your special someone. Heartwarming poetry to read!

In science one tries to tell people, in such a way as to be understood by everyone, something that no one ever knew before. But in poetry, it's the exact opposite.

Franz Kafka (1883-1924) Czech writer.
