    If only I had listened

A road that leaves a man unchanged
is a road that is left untraveled
You asked me to change my feelings
    and left my heart unraveled
But beneath is a newness that shines so bright
As you promised that light shall not abide with the Darkness
I will be made brighter with your loving care
    Passing through the decisions
    I overlooked your direction
    If I had only listened
I could have saved myself from harm
    Before I resisted your coaching
Today I follow your loving command
Scars I can no longer hide
Most all of this regret and pain
Scars I can no longer hide
    The security that you provide
If it means so much to
    Dragging along my burden,
its weight so heavy to bear
Will my Father hear my silent prayer
So Glad you want me to follow
Thankful you want me to stay
    Humbly I bow before you
Follow as you lead the way
To carry the weight of this gift
    Has been my deepest desire
To see your name lifted up
    And follow your presence higher
