    January Ember by: Sarah Trigg

    Sometimes my mind escapes me
Forcing out the flaws so they’re al l see
Blinding my eyes from the sweetness of his heart
I can’t help but tear myself apart
I weep quietly, hating my mind
For bringing these thoughts, I tried so hard to leave behind
Does he really love me? As he wholeheartedly claims?
For having these thoughts am I the one to blame?
They crawl into my ear as I sit alone
Giving me shivers right to the bone
Tears in my eyes, I hate myself
Hoping my thoughts turn to something else
He kisses my lips, the thoughts dead
The words escapes him the thoughts don’t return to my head
Behind his eyes the truth shines
The love they let off I know he’s mine
When I’m alone the thoughts return again
They die as soon as my eyes hit him
He lifts me up as my knees hit the ground
Last January my love was found
A year goes by and still sometimes my mind escapes me
Forcing out flaws so they’re all I see
Sometime I still wait for my thoughts to turn to something else
Those thoughts make me hate myself
Once again I see him, the thoughts die
I’m glad again he didn’t see me cry
