    Memories

i sit here and write as the tears fall from my eyes
i can still hear the glass breaking and your cries
mom he's in our lane there's no where else to go
i can't get away he's gonna hit us you know
the glass shatters and falls around us like rain
my mind is racing and my body full of pain
your head lays limply and no pulse can i find
and baby Britni kicks and i feel her for the last time
a baby taken away that was so soon to be born
i can't hear Bryce in the back out of my seat i tore
i tried to get in the back to get to my grandson
the car was all mangled it couldn't be done
but as i finally heard his fear in his screams
tears of relief from my eyes did stream
the pain was getting worse things were fading fast
but before i was totally out i heard my daughter at last
she says you have to stay mom its not your time to die
you stay and take care of Bryce, me and Brit will be alright
as i wake in the hospital and ask where your at
your sisters look at me and tell me you went to be with dad
but i try to tell them that you were there with me
then i realize you were as only a guardian angel could be

in loving memory of my daughter and unborn granddaughter

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
