    Thank You

I wish I would of known
It was to be our last day
Now there's nothing I can change
    There's nothing I can say
Last night I kissed your lips
    And snuggled to your side
    Not knowing in the morning
I would have to say good-bye
Now I'm only able to talk
With my eyes full of sorrow
    Because death came in
For us there is no tomorrow
I knew that it was coming
Asking each day for just one more
Not wanting to face the truth
Not wanting the tears to pour
So now I sit down to write
    In my rhythm and rhyme
To let the whole world know
I thank you GOD for all that extra time

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
