Pain and Time
she had asked for more time
when he was near the end
her prayers were answered
and the next 22 months began
all she wanted was his love
to see the beauty of his face
forever at his side
that was to be her place
the pain and suffering of the one
the soul mate of her life
the sadness the showed in his eyes
of what he could not give his wife
their time was at a finish
as he lay and closed his eyes
never to know as she snuggled close
she wouldn't get to say good-bye
her heart still can't understand
it grieves for what is lost
but her mind it comprehends
the price of staying would of cost
