Nothingness

Nothingness

My whole life all I wanted
was to be accepted,
to fit in somewhere, anywhere.
I don't understand or know
what purpose I serve in this
journey we call life.
Little by little I close myself off,
within these walls I am building
day by day they become higher
and stronger.
There is no point in trying,
irrational thoughts cloud my mind.
A bottomless pit is where I am
no beginning, no end, just emptiness.
Nothing to see or hear,
no sense of anything at all.

Terry

Poetry is not a turning loose of emotion, but an escape from emotion.

T. S. Eliot (1888-1965) American-English poet and playwright.
