Relief

Relief

Obsessed with that thin red line
Wanting more just to see them flow
No pain comes with them anymore
Just a dull sense of lost pride
I'm ashamed of it, yet I can't stop
It takes away the pain that is hidden by my mask
They're hidden so well that you cannot see
But I know they're there because they're raw and sore
It only creates more pain after
But I can't seem to stop
Because at those moments I find relief
And I don't want it to stop

Poetry is either something that lives like fire inside you or else it is nothing, an empty formalized bore around which pedants can endlessly drone their notes and explanations.
