She Withdraws Into Her Shell

She Withdraws Into Her Shell

She needs him so much, she needs to feel his arms around her, holding her tight. She needs to feel his touch in so many ways it hurts. Her heart is breaking, why can he not see how much she needs him and how much she is hurting ? She try's to tell him how much she needs these things but it just angers him. He starts to scream at her, telling her how selfish she is being, once again she withdraws inside her shell to keep from falling to pieces in front of him. Why does he not see what he is doing to her ? Why does he not see how much she loves him ? She withdraws into her shell a little more each day, now the only place she feels safe.

Bittersweet, the redeeming quality about love is even when the other party can't see the hurt they have caused the first party doesn't stop loving. That's why some of the teenagers tickle me. "You don't love me so I hate you. You're a jerk and now we're through" Well not that bad I hope but you get my drift and I bet that man that she loves so much just isn't demonstrative and just loves her to pieces or she'd never love him so. Great piece on longing to be understood, need and unrequieted love. I felt like this 20 years ago, now I'd just say have a wonderful afternoon dear, to show you how much I appreciate what a good provider you are I am taking some of our money and going out to enjoy life. gets them everytime.Good write

Ty you for your comment on the poem hun....I will say she is not a teen, she is me....I do understand what you are saying....He does love me very much, he just doesn't show it, instead he winds up hurting me a lot, i don't think he even realizes what he is doing....Anyway thanks again hun....

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
