Soldier

And tears cascaded down her cheeks,
As she realized it would never be.
The love she had found a little girl,
Was all but gone in the changing world.
The war he saw played in his eyes,
As it broke her heart to see him cry.
The boy she loved had gone away,
Replaced by a man whose twinkle fades.
What made him special, what made him hers,
Was long gone to never return.

In science one tries to tell people, in such a way as to be understood by everyone, something that no one ever knew before. But in poetry, it's the exact opposite.

Franz Kafka (1883-1924) Czech writer.
