    splinters in a mind's eye

does the world have to make everything die,
and give you splinters in our mind's eye?
to taint the the necter of love and life,
and beat us down and cause us strife,
it takes the brightest lights and dims their shine,
and makes beautiful curves form a straight line.
from simplest times made more complex,
all of lifes beauty it eventually wreaks.
everything we have loved and enjoyed,
its in our nature to watch it destroyed.
we watch it all wither and die,
but we can see nothing with splinters in our mind's eye

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.
