The Color of Caramel
I have always been the color of caramel, sweet candy that sticks to your gums and teeth. I have always been in between the lines and asked, "Are you from India, Brazil, West India, and everywhere else where English is broken and fallen and spoken little. But in my skin of caramel, Is a sweetness Of being able to blend, And send love around the world. And a beauty like no other where connections could be lost. And misconceptions misconstrued. Where people judge because you are not like them. Blessings to Caramel, I say. I am proud of Caramel, Sweet, sticky candy Like me who will stay with you lLong after the taste is gone. The beauty of the beige and the beauty of audacity To know that beauty really is within. And yet, we stop, "breathtaking we say!" And I know that it is then that caramel Is best, and sweet and good and memorable.The Color of Caramel
