THE CRY OF A BROKEN HEART

I have waited for you all my life,
Now that you have come, it just doesn’t feel right.

They said that love is the best,
Why does it feel like anything but the best?

I was bitten by the love’s serpent
And its venom is slowly killing me.

    Burning through my veins cruel,
Melting each bone as it moves.

I have swallowed the bitter fruit of love,
And its poison is cutting my intestines up.

Why does love bring tears to my eyes?
Why does it make me want to end my life?

Oh love, why love? Why me?
Why are you so unkind to me?

    Haven’t you punished me enough?
Isn’t it time you leave me alone?

    With love

Hadizah, I see that all of these poems seem to revolve around a central incident. If so, you have chosen a wonderful form of catharsis. I, too, have lost recently, and was angry with the process of love itself, not realizing, without the possibility of love, what are we left with? I've spent time there, too. I hope this finds you well.

    Thanks.

To have great poets there must be great audiences too.
