    The Elusive Dream

    The  Elusive Dream

I saw you in a dream

     once upon a time,

left me with a sense of wonder

    and a little rhyme.

It was only a brief glance

    Before I awoke

    What a sweet feeling

    That you evoked

    You were here

    and then you were there

    Then you were gone

    And fog was everywhere.

    In that brief glance,

I saw your smile so sweet,

And your smile became my happiness

A feeling I wanted to repeat.

    I don’t know why,

But I sensed within you a great need.

    Tender compassion

    Growing like flower seeds.

    Your elusiveness became

    My great obsession,

As my need for my you

    I knew would not lessen.

I sensed you and felt you

    Encamped around me,

    As my heart cried out

    Longing to be free.
