    THIER FEAR YOUR FREEDOM

I've sent boys into battle, brought men back from war,
Watched kids turn into soldiers, boyhood out the door.
Many called them killers, I call them heroes one and all,
I watched a scared young face, take a bullet and fall.

Few of us can imagine, what war is all about,
Many running through the bush, hearing the enemy shout.
Thier war may be holy, But what the hell am I doing here,
As you sit back in your easy chair, nothing to fear.

I hope your life goes easy, you have it really well,
You have these boys to thank, thier living hell.
Next time you see a soldier, no sneer turn his way,
For many of his brothers, are not here today.

Mothers lost thier sons, children lost a dad,
Young women without a husband, can't you fell the sad?
Next time you see a soldier, walking tall and proud,
Understand his brothers losses, and cry outloud.

Thanks for your comment and most of all your support. Those of us who served during Viet Nam got little or no support. I swore I would never let that happen to another U.S. servicemember. For your support you sir are a great American!

This is definitely a grand poem and of course I agree we owe much to these warriors sent to places far; but that doesn't mean because I salute them and keep them in my heart......I can't work with others toward bring peace to the world. It is overfue and that is why all the rain flooding places....it is God crying because those in the lead.....don't undrstand what God's plan is about: peace on earth good will to men.

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.

John F. Kennedy (1917-1963) Thirty-fifth President of the USA
