Vengeance

Vengeance

Can you see me in the dark
in the place where shadows turn
hidden deep inside the twilight
where the light of day has spurned?
Can you feel my ever longing
like a wash of winter's rain
chilling all the places
life will never warm again?
Does the beating of my heart
echo loudly in your soul
reminding you of nightmares
you've struggled not to know?
Or do you simply tremble
as you watch and wait and pray
longing for the dawn
that's so ever far away?
I can wait forever
time means nothing, has no hold
savoring the sweetest dish
that's always better cold.
But when I come I'll come with vengeance
for what was lost and not replaced
and in your final moments
you'll find the answers in my face.
Can you see me in the darkness
where the truth was ever bound
You took from me, I'll take from you
let the dance go round and round.

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
