Where is My Wizard

Where is My Wizard

Youre sitting alone crying
Mourning your heart felt loss
Despite already feeling torn apart
Here comes a storm that chooses your life, to toss

This new world is terrifying with all its drama
It holds no enchantment, for its purpose is to confuse
I want to escape and head for my already lonely home
But I find my feet bare, lacking my ruby red shoes

I am trying to find my way through all of this chaos
But I can see not one yellow stone
No road for me to follow
So I journey on, destination unknown

I see a forest to my left
A cornfield to my right
I decide the forest might contain a cabin
So I head towards it with my fists clenched tight

I search for a companion
In this eerie dark place
But I hear no voices
And see not one face

Where is the one with no brain in his head
Where is the man made of tin
Where is the evil witch
I am to battle and accidently win?

Where is my wizard
Or perhaps a prince from another tale
To give me guidance or romantic rescue
For what is a musical note without its scale

Deeper into the forest I journey
Expecting the most cowardly being to appear
But the cold wind blows and the trees begin to creak
My only companions are misery and fear

The darkness clears a bit
I have come to a clearing at last
I see a large empty field
I run across it leaving that scary forest in my past

I see the sparkling green castle ahead
But when I near I see its dark and the door is cracked
I see no one, hear no music or celebration
Was I to be happy or sad, how was I to react?

What was I supposed to do now
There was no where left to turn
I sat down against the wall to cry
For it was my home I did desperately yearn

Out of blue, enlightenment came
Maybe I had found what I was searching for
Maybe these characters I had expected to see
I had already discovered but chose to ignore

I have a brain but against it I often decide
Making it as though it never existed
For its every thought or idea
I had resisted

I had a heart but I hid it from all
Behind a wall of the strongest metal
Lay a beating heart to stay protected
For it was as delicate and fragile as a rose petal

I was one full of fear and sorrow
But everyday put on a brave costume
I scared no one, not a single soul
But the intention was only to hide the gloom

I was the witch sabotaging my every effort
Unintentionally, by holding onto my grief
I robbed myself of my joy
I had become my own thief

A wizard I was all the time
For I travelled to this fairy tale to help me see
All the answers I have been searching for
For the insight and knowledge had been the key!

insight and knowledge may be the key, but they will never be able to replace that romantic part of your life. I hope you find your wizard and that he is the prince you've longed for. Great poem my dear!!!

Poetry is when an emotion has found its thought and the thought has found words.

Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
