    A Minute or Two

    I walk down the street
And I see the two crosses on the side of the road
Inside it still hurts me as they stand at my feet
Because this is the place where you died, I was told
    My heart cries inside
    Where your body had lied
I think of your last moments by the roadside
Though only a year and a half you stayed
You had a home here, and were loved every day
I wish I had said goodbye to you that Friday in class
None of us expected it to be your last
It may be true there isno guarantee for tomorrow, but
I still felt a burden of sadness and sorrow
It could have been cancer, it could have been old age
But you died in a car wreck
    And no one's to blame
It doesn't make sense that you left us so early
But you left us behind all the same
You were just a man in this unlucky world
But the pain still hurts when we think of who you were
It's been four years now, but no one's forgot
About the small town coach and the friendship he brought
There'll be other coaches, but still, none like you
So I'll stand here beside you for a minute or two
