Cat and Ball

January 21, 2009

Dew on a branch twig
on a cold morning
Sparrow poking on crumbs
on the sidewalk where I walk

I need to be alone,
Quiet, take it in,
apart from all of their opinions
I just need me afterall,
and the One above.

My cat curled
like a potato
on the rug,
by her blue toy ball
That's all she needs,
as she is.
And then she sleeps.

Short and neat, positive and sweet.

A sweet, little slice of life inlaid with pretty cliches & accessible imagery.

Great poem, this is truly poetry, I like the way you described the sceen, and I know you had alot on your mind during your walk. nice poem and title, I will give it a 10, return the favor and read mine.

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.

Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
