    Celebrate America

    Celebrate America!

Celebrate this day with shouts of gladness
Or honor it with quiet tears of joy
Finally our country steps toward greatness
Ideals of freedom; not just a decoy

Now can we “hold these truths self evident”?
Can we at last embrace equality?
Flames of righteousness burn ever ardent
As side by side we live in amity

It’s time for common folks to stand with pride
To ride these tides of hope courageously
To make sure cries for justice aren’t denied
And give ourselves for others selflessly.

The only way America stands tall
Is if there‘s peace and liberty for all.

    For the occasion of
The Inauguration of President Barack Obama

Poetry is finer and more philosophical than history; for poetry expresses the universal, and history only the particular.

Aristotle (384 BC-322 BC) Greek philosopher.
