I Never Wrote A Love Poem…

Like the pristine blue of sixteen pools…
Your crystalline hue is glistening through
The reflection in my eyes paints a shimmering you
You make my blood boil, then turn it to a simmering brew

I’m so enraptured now…I’m hemorrhaging you
My heart clears way for the missile he shoots…
straight at my head…dismissing he’s proof…
of this projectile called love, kissing deep roots

Like the crisp clean hue of pristine blue
You’re shimmering through and glistening too
The reflection in my eyes paints a blistering you
You set my soul on fire, then extinguish with dew

I’m hopeless captured now…wrapped in kudzu
My art gives way to a painting unto…
she who’s spell I could never undo…
because this x-file called love is finally getting just due.

She carries no name because for this it’s uncouth…

I never wrote a love poem…

but this could be you.

Once Upon a Yesterday

Once upon a yesterday...
we talked about forever days.
Now that that's all gone away...
all else has failed and settled gray.

New moon rising...come what may.
Sleeping dogs...let's let them lay.
These wounds heal nor fester...nay...
for this was once upon a yesterday.

Jeepers creepers...creature features...
yes...let's play.

Intestines ingested infection
I'm retching wretched at your recollection...

ever clever better days.

But this was once upon a yesterday.

Just today...stress and fray.
Yesterday...reckless play...
on a restless beach...
near a blessed bay.
Water cool on a tepid May...day
eyes locking incessant way...
promising we'd never stray.

Now all I can ever say is...
once upon a yesterday.

Caught up on an pressured...stay
Flashy treasure never...clay
Now that you have gone away...
my every day...blase...blase.

As I sit and pen purveys...
emotions of defeat and disarray...
"A love he's lost." Is what they'll say...
but Nostalgia came for visit pay.

We sat before the fire place...
and talked about forever days.
She leaves abrupt...she never stays...
and me with her she never takes...
as she returns to and never sways...

from once upon a yesterday

She's Deeply In Love

She doesn't want to love she...
she just wants to love me.
If I'm not under her skin...
my name covers her teeth.

I don't just give her dreams...
I govern her sleep.
She'll never slumber because of another...
other than me.

I'm the reason she's frailly chic...
slender...slim...like she barely eats.
I'm her gallant who she merrily meets...
for fun times...running blind...errant relief.

Now she's just...a cut away from the despair and the grief.

She tells me I'm the best thing that ever happened...
but in a room full of high spirits...
she's the only one laughin'...
ha ha ha...she's the only one gaspin'...

then tells me I'm much better than that jolly ol' aspirin.

I give her that rush in a tub full of...life water rapids...
candles lit...lights dim...my love burns like acid...
till she churns and she writhes...she doesn't do placid...
her emotions...alive...she doesn't do plastic.

I once told her...without pain...there is no gain...
and to kindle that famed flame...she needs propane...
and to become one with that fire...she must open veins
So she confesses while she etches...on her skin...

she knows love and love knows pain.

She tells me...
I'm the only one to make her feel wildly untamed...
and too much of my touch makes her feel mildly insane...
yet...ironically...she never feels defiled or inane.
.
.
.
.
But when she feels tied down...I'm not her restrainer.
When she needs to be held up...I am her retainer.
When she feels stepped on...I would never maim her.
She calls me her super hero...her caped crusader.
.
.
.
.
.
.

She loved me to death...
I was her amaze-r...her perfect stranger...
her knight in shining armor...her status raiser...
then I became her vice after the alc...and chaser.
My love cut deep...I...the devout eraser...
was who she turned to when the ousters faced her...
but never more will she ever be about her chamber...

I dangle suspended over tiles...
dripping...
slipping...

a worn-out...razor

Would You Still Love Me?

Would you still love me if I told all of your secrets...
and exposed your pain...
or...
embarrassed you in public...
and left you known insane?

Would you still love me if I...
brought into question your moral fiber...
depleted your diet...leaving you deficient of more than fiber...
or...
put into your stomach nothing but fire...
and told all of your friends...you were an insufferable liar?

Would you still love me If I abused and bruised you...
made you choose me...and your family lose you?

Would you still love me if I...
didn't respect you...
made you look like a fool...
and others detest you?

Would you still love me if I broke you down...
used to make you feel like a princess...
now I revoke your crown?

Would you still love me if I...
controlled all of your thoughts and actions...
had you living in the gutter...
something you never thought would happen?

Would you still love me if I...
told you to kill yourself...
and you were sure of nothing else
but...
that I would help?

Would you still love me if I would make you cry...
then take you high...
then make you think of substances that would...
make you die?

Would you still love me if I would never let you rest...
and turned off the lights in your head and your chest?

No...but I'll still send my love...
after that I know you won't accept...
so send my compliments to the chefs...
who keep cooking up that which you love to inject.

If it isn't the heroin then...
it's probably meth.
This thing by any name is...

obviously death.

I'm sure when the casket drops...
you'll give it a rest...
but in the meantime...
.
.
.
.
you still love it.

Love Story v1: Jade and I

Jade was so caring...
I was so carefree/daring.
They say opposites attract...
so goes the story of our pairing.

She wanted me to change...
view the world in a different light...
and wished I might...
wake under a new moon on a different night...

her lips I'd bite...
if she would give me the chance.
The world could wait...
a first date...
begins a romance.

Cloud nine...
no chance...
straight to 99...
with her..."come hither hello glance".

No advance...
needed...
wavelength sharing...
and she saw right through my carefree/daring.

She knew she had me...
at that cliche greeting...
and I did everything possible...
to stop my head and heels meeting.

Then...

I gave up...
I gave in...
I played tough...
then caved in...

figuring if I saw the world...
through her looking glass...
in the end I may win...

but then again...
.
.
.
.
She wanted me to change...
view the world in a different light...
and wished I might...
wake under a new moon on a different night...
.
.
.
.
We walked the streets...
as if no one else was ever there...
turned deaf ears to moans of despair...
skipped over famine as I stroked her hair...
shunned needy hands as we focused on air.

We were the nonchalant...
content with our cubicle.
Her views to me became fruitful...
less and less unusual...

until my status quo became a brutish glow.
.
.
.
.
We exchanged vows because...
together we made it...
she pledged to be of gold standard...
never tarnished or faded...
I pledged to love and honor...
never garner her hatred...
then I kissed the bride...
before the justice could say it...

fused at the altar....

she became me...
and...
I became...
.
.
.
.
jaded.

Fabulous and moving for me to read. I like it when words can crawl under my skin yet up my spine. Divine reading. xo

Thank you kindly...I am glad you liked :)

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.

Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
