HOW I LONG

HOW I LONG

HOW I LONG

Evening ,

it’s always
in the evening,
that peaceful time
between night and day,
where the light shades
your picture in that
special way,

this is when
I read your poems

over and
over again.

How I long to be that
man anew,
to be touched,
to be caressed
by your gentle lies.
to not know the knowing,
to trust the heart

and not
the eyes.

How I long to write a
thousand poems and let
each fly,

hoping that one
finds you

and in reading
you will see my
true lies,

for it was not
the words that failed us
as our song died.

Perhaps it was a
summers wind
that Blew dark
covering the blue.

I watched as your
hand slipped
from mine,
as the

summer colors
faded from view.
now I long for those
bittersweet Lies
that we told,
and I Long for
our love of
long ago.

Wonderful flow, great voice...me like a lot very much

If I feel physically as if the top of my head were taken off, I know that is poetry.

Emily Dickinson (1830-1886) American poet.
