I ,we

I ,we

Terrified of the imminent collapse
      Yet oblivious to the unpredictable

Tentative to any advance
      Yet scathing of any restraint.
Drenched by slow motion apprehensiveness
      Yet completely without complaint

Find no reason in these utterances
Yet find smugness at the close of every line
Clamped down by an unsearching finality
Yet still emerging fresh faced every time                                                                                                                                                    Side by side we squabble childlike
     Wrench reality from indecision
Back to back wey shoulder each other
     As twins do when bullied

Poetry is finer and more philosophical than history; for poetry expresses the universal, and history only the particular.

Aristotle (384 BC-322 BC) Greek philosopher.
