If I Could

Poem Commentary

Smiling while thinking of you........;)

If I Could

When you are afraid, I would like to hug you tight,
Throught the day or through the night,
If I could.

When you are sad, I would like give you a smile,
To last you for more than a little awhile,
If I could.

When you need a hand, I would like to offer you mine,
To grab ahold of, so you would continue to shine,
If I could.

When you are weak, just lean on me,
I would like to offer you strength, to continue to be,
If I could.

The one thing I know I can do,
Is say a prayer for you.
That is what I will do.

So when you need a hug or a smile,
Know my arms will be open all the while,
That is where I need you.

Dear Super Angel, // I like it, and I'm running right to ya. // Love, // --Michael LP, Mr. Poet // P.S. I'll come back another time and give this poem a full critique, which I know you want, just as I myself like for my own poems. Right now, I will only say that, no matter who it may be you wrote it for (or maybe for more than one?), I felt as I read it that it was written for me, and I still feel it that way. Because I know that for all of those things you listed, you would do those things for me if you could. Some of them you really have done. You have given me your hand of understanding, to help me continue to shine. You have given me your caring love to lean on. You have helped me to be stronger, to continue to be. And I know I am in your prayers, just as you are in mine. So, no matter who you wrote this poem for, I feel in my heart that I can take it as my own, whether or not it was meant for me. I take it as the gift of a well-written poem, gift-wrapped with love.
