IN MY ROCKING CHAIR
While in my rocking chair
I'm thinking of you:
A tiny little fish
Within my salty ocean.
Where?
There?
You had traveled all by yourself
Then the two of you met
becoming one forever.
Within my salty ocean.
Where?
There?
My body, now your home
To float in and to grow!
And by and by
To punch, have hiccups,
Marathons and kicks
Within my salty ocean
Where?
There?
Then I imagined us facing one another
You and I strangers still.
but related for all time.
From my salty ocean.
In my rocking chair.
Where?
There?
I grew impatient
You grew big
You were kicking
But not screaming
Your silent moving was really all.
In my rocking chair.
Where?
There!!
At long last you decided
to take that harrowing plunge
to forego that safest darkness
and meet me in my sphere.
Where?
HERE!!
You sucked for dear life
While in my arms and safely in my rocking chair.
We were meeting ev'ry second and
Minute by minute day and night.
Looking at you I wondered
And am wondering still
Will you value living?
So much madness, insults, starvation and terror
Where?
There!
EVERYWHERE!!
Will you be safe?
Will you stay healthy?
Will you make friends?
Will you trust and confide?
Will our human separation
not leave you stranded and forever sad?
Where?
There!
EVERYWHERE!!
Then I started wishing
From the bottom of my heart
If only I could suckle
all of humanity!
And hold her to my breasts
Cradle her in my arms
In my rocking chair, most tenderly.
Nourish and enrich
Kiss away pain, poverty and despair,
Ignorance, sickness, terror hate and war
The ugliest things in life.
To kiss and make it right
For sweet humanity
In all eternity.....
Where?
There!
EVERYWHERE!!
