    In The Twilight Between

    Don't love me
    just fall in love
    with these words
    whatever is experienced,
    envisioned or heard
    or thought to have occurred
    Interpretations
    that is all up in the air
    this way, that way
    the creativity will stir

    Will not stutter
    mince or cover up
    with pretty words
    the harsh realities
    that plague me
    Don't need your sympathy
    to grind the monkey
    off this back
    to save me,
    teach me something that I lack

    Don't need your morality
    or your perfected views
    for me to choose
    there are no winners here
    just wayward souls
    longing for something to hold
    not hitting another wall
    too proud to stumble and crawl
    introverted and contemplating
    absorbing and assimilating

    In the twilight between
    this darkness and light
    finding a vehicle
    of self expression,
    not another man's plight
    so why do you come here
    expecting to unearth
    some literary gem?
    taking exception,
    feeling the need to condemn?

    Lied to his face
    just to keep the conversation moving
    got under his skin
    exposing hidden nerves
    and all the trappings within
    taking this honesty
    with the intentions of rape
    psychological profiling
    all the while she is smiling
    he politely disengages to escape

    Wasn't brought up that way
    didn't know people could be so cruel
    each and every day
    treating each other like some tool
    used to care what people thought
    always ended up on the receiving end,
    taking it any way they wanted
    exposing such frailties
    yet they dared to call themselves,'friends'
    happily going around another bend

    Oh such scathing cynicism born of redundant disappointments. A glass half full threatens to become a weapon rather than a tool. And yet, that is what most of us play with on a daily basis. Some crystal sings when under stress, and other simply breaks. Harv
