    Just A Thought to Ponder
    Collecting friends for the sheer numbers of it,
    means nothing online
    popularity rhymes with hilarity
    entering contests and having no one leave
    any sort of comment to me,
    is very suspect...
    can you survive criticism,
    without friends pumping up your inflatable ego?
    or associates leaving vaporous comments behind,
    as if the feedback
    somehow elevates one above the pack?
    Just a thought to ponder...
    no doubt you will skim over this,
    seeing just another rant,
    a written rage going undiscovered
    well, tough shit
    there is more where this came from

    Finally! someone said it! Call it a rant or whatever you will, but I agree whole heartedly. Especially with the line -Collecting friends for the sheer numbers of it, I am impressed with your honesty and with the tactful way you expressed it in this poem. I have received friend requests from some that never even commented on my poems, let alone-rate them. I just don't understand it and deny the request. If I request a friend - it's because I have read some of their work and enjoyed it enough to comment and rate it. Isn't that why we're he're? To share our works, provide and receive feedback - good, bad or indifferent? I myself am not here for the contest or to gain false friends. I'm here to gain knowledge and offer my own insights to fellow poets who desire the same.

    I have been reading through some of your poetry, thought I would respond to this one because I do like to "edit" and offer bardish advice. This poem is not my favorite but the theme caught my attention. So, yes I will provide the criticism, more to come for sure. In general though, I am impressed that you limit the use of personal pronouns in your writing; a tough thing to do with both prose and poetry. Myself, I will keep poems for many years and then re-write them before I will let anyone read them. I am my worst critic but, I too, would much rather hear how a poem can be improved.
