My Adopted Child

My Adopted Child

Fifteen years ago I adopted a child
I didn't have any regrets when I looked
into her eyes.
I fell in love with her when I saw her face
I couldn't let her grow up in different places.
I knew that my values had no changed
But I knew that I couldn't raise this child
the same.
My family members said your child is grown
Let someone else give this child a home.
You don't know what kind of person she is
going to be
She probably will resent you, then you will see.
I didn't know what the future held for me
But I knew that God could always see.
My husband was called to his heavenly home
God sent me this child so I would never be alone.
Her parents asked me to give her this letter
Inside it read, "We want your life to be better
".
We're very sorry that we had to give you away
We couldn't provide the necessities or a place for
you to stay.
We want you to grow up in a two parent home
Know that we love you, you will never be alone.

Poetry is not a turning loose of emotion, but an escape from emotion.
