MY MOTHER'S STRUGGLE

MY MOTHER'S STRUGGLE

We grew up with a single mother
Dad abandoned us, it was a struggle.
Mom never told us that dad was gone
After several days we knew he wasn't
coming home.
Mom worked two jobs to provide for us
She didn't have a car, so she rode the bus.
Many times mom thought that we were sleep
We heard her praying and sometimes she would weep.
Her finances improved so she purchased a car
We were tired of walking to school because it was far.
Mom's goal  in life was to build a home
When it was completed most of us had gone.
Mom never mentioned my father's name again
I could see in her eyes, that she was in pain.
I have admiration for my dear mother
She over came the obstacles inspite of her struggles.
