Silence

And the silence made my heart think twice before making a sound.

Did I really want to be with him?

My mind has coaxed me to stay for so long already, it's shouts drowning out my heart's whispered pleas.
But one night, my mind silent as it processes the newly blaring music, I turned to my heart and silently asked to hear its whispers.
As soon as I wished to hear,my heart burst forth,it's voice raising higher and now,oh what a twist, drowning out my minds whispers.
It begs me to stop doing this,stringing myself and him along, when our love, like Romeo and Juliet, had met the same horrid fate.
It was shocking to me to hear my heart speak so boldly, but all I could do was mutely nod and allow my mind and heart to plan,moving my hands and twisting my voice like a lump of clay, molding it to be what they wanted,nay,needed it to be.
And when it was over,the bonds severed to never be rejoined,
I had no tears,
and felt no pain.
I Knew,
perhaps I had always known,
my knight in shining armor
was simply
an oaf in tinfoil,
the sun's glare
blinding me to the
truth.
