Something to do, every now and then.

Something to do, every now and then.

Every now and then, could you hold me?
    Not because I asked you,
or it looked as though I needed it,
    but...just because you wanted to,
    just hold me?

Every now and then, would you kiss me,
like you did way back when?
    The passion, raging in our hearts;
Would you make me feel that again,
    when you kiss me?

Every now and then, will you think of me?
Between papers to read, and bills to pay,
meeting with people, and answering phones,
could you take just a minute or two, today,
    and think of me?

Every now and then, will you tell me that you love me?
A budding rose on my pillow, soft music from a violin.
Or leave a note in a special place, just a word or two,
that will let me know, every now and then,
    that you love me.

I like it very much. Simple but simply beautiful. Makes me want to read some more of your writing.

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.

    Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
