    To Whom It May Concern:

To Whom it may concern:   Isn't that how it all starts?
The last one to know who has the latest broken heart.
I couldn't stand it when he left me, so I wrote down a note, and put it in a bottle, and hoped it wouldn't float.
...A stranger is now reading what was going through my mind.  As I watched him, he read slowly, over each and every line.
Then he looked up and stared as if he wrote it himself, went over the bar and took a bottle off the shelf.
Slowly, he poured two small glasses of wine, turned and smiled, gave a nod, as if he knew it was mine.
He came over to the table, asked if I knew the town, where two hearts could recover from being torn down.
...Well, I mentioned that a wound like mine could not mend.  He said, "not with a stranger, but things happen between friends.
You see it happened just the other way, between my gal and me, and I was too busy in my own life to see,
that it takes two hearts for happiness, for misery, only one, and she couldn't see us down the road, with all the things I'd done.
So when I read your letter, I began to feel the pain, and when I saw your tearful eyes, I thought I would explain,
that it wasn't meant to be this way, he didn't mean to stray, and if he promised to uphold the vows, was everything okay?"
...But the words kept on going, not falling on my ears.
I'd made my choice long ago, not to drown in wasteful tears.
...I'm learning again to show my love, he gives love in return.  I give my love, not to a stranger, but, To Whom it may concern.
