the elfin king

    the elfin king

    the light did break

    the ties that bound

    the elfin king of lore

    the gifted sage

    the mighty mage

    the champion of war

    he lay long bound

    beneath the ground

til love would break his chains

    to heal his heart

    and mend his sword

    and bring the gentle rains

    he fought no more

    nor stood his ground

    against the darkened sky

    and when the battle cry

    did wane

    he batted not his eye

    for to be a king

    and love his land

    and save his lady wife

    on bended knee

    and battered face

    he offered up his life

    thank you:)

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

    Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
