    The Grim Reaper

    The Grim Reaper

During the sleepless hours of solitude
Another night haunts his darkened room
The silence is broken and he is afraid to move
By a sudden and familiar knock.

One he has heard in a nightmare before
So in a futile attempt to escape from death
He jumps out of bed and onto the floor
For he knows who is at his door.

He creeps ever so slowly into the darkened hall,
His hands being guided by touching the wall.
He stops; trembling wildly at the front door,
He must see who's there, he can't take any more.

Trembling, his hand reaches slowly for the latch,
When he catches a glimpse of someone in his pumpkin patch.
"Oh, crap" he thinks as his heart races ever so quick,
He tears open the door, why it's just his friend Nick!

"What the hell are you trying to do?" he yells at Nick,
And his good friend stands there grinning, yep he's pretty slick.
"Answer me" you fool, he yells once more,
And shoves at his friend, who now falls to the floor.

A knife in his back, stiff as a board is Nick,
And all he can think is: “I gotta get outta here quick.”
So he grabs a jacket and a flashlight and runs down the lane,
And he hears someone running behind him, singing this refrain.

"We psyched you dude. .. Happy Halloween!
It was all Nick's idea .. time to come clean.”
While the dude turns around with blood in his eyes,
"Get the hell outta my sight" was his only reply.

As he now walked back to the house furiously mad,
A real goblin beheaded him, OMG too, too sad.

Poetry is finer and more philosophical than history; for poetry expresses the universal, and history only the particular.

Aristotle (384 BC-322 BC) Greek philosopher.
