    Poem Commentary

    Written October 28, 2005

    Woman

    Independent, stubborn woman.
    Strong, young, spirited woman.
She don’t live in a world
    Where love is her noose.
    Lassoed tightly around her heart.
She don’t want for the warmth
    Of someone’s arms.
    Her corner, her closet
    Is her security.

    She guides the course
    Of her own destiny.
    Flying steadily
    On her broken wings.
    Calmly, slowly, sadly,
    She walks lonely
    Desiring the taste of nothing,
    Longing for no one’s affection.
    Twisted, distorted the fate
    Of this cursed, depressed woman.

    Young, unloved, unhappy woman.

    well written

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.

    Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
