    Poem Commentary

This is called a Partenza Represa...if you want the specifics on the form, send me a message..

    Your Departure

    The myriad, blazing stars above,
stars above upon which I gaze.
'pon which I gaze and think of love,
And think of love from prior days

From prior days when you and I,
when you and I traversed the world.
Traversed the world as lovers might,
As lovers might with sails unfurled.

Yet all good things come to an end,
come to an end and cease to be.
And cease to be my love, my friend
my love, my friend, depart from me.

Depart from me do not return.
Do not return and cause me pain,
and cause me pain, infernal burn
infernal burn out in the rain.

Out in the rain, the soothing rain
the soothing rain and light caress
and light caress that feels the same
that feels the same as your sweet breath

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

    Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
