    Country Tie

Yea I’m a country boy, and that’s all I want to be.

I don’t like the city life, no sir it’s not for me.

I’d rather be in the country broke without a dime but livin free.

No you’ll never get a tie, not on a country boy like me

No you cant put a tie, on a country boy like me.

You can’t keep me there and dress me up, like some businessman you see.

Yea I like it here in the country fine without all that city company.

No you’ll never get a tie, not on a country boy like me.

You may like that city life, but it’s not for me here’s why.

I like it here where the air is fresh and  where you can see the sky.

I don’t like those cars and that noise there in the city don’t you see.

One thing’s for sure you wont get your tie not on a country boy like me

Apartment living it ain’t for me because I need my open space.

I would rather have me country shack and be alone in my own place.

You could move on out here with me but you can’t leave that city be.

Another reason why you wont get that tie, on a country boy like me.

Yea you can lead a horse to water  but shore can’t make him drink.

And you can’t drag me away from here….it don't matter what you think.

N you can take the boy from country- true, but not the country outta me.

No for sure you’ll never get that tie, not on a country boy like me.

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.
